Silver Attitude awards- Interschool competition

In term one  I went out with the year 7/8 softball team over at Dunkirk Park. We were all trying our best with all of the supporters and our teammates that were supporting us, when we played against all different teams.

Kiwi Sport

This week for Kiwi Sport we were learning how to do a front dive. That was on the floor rowtenn. On the beem we had to walk back woudes. I liked doing the the floor routine it was fun because i was really good at doing it. We had Gymnastics at lunchtime yesterday for the inter school competitions. I was choosin with Victoria, Chavda, Florence, Alex and Jack

This week at tech we were starting our new rotations we were with Mrs Ferguson, We were making a DLO on what we like and what are our favorite food and other things. We were learning about what kinds of things that others like. We were making a DLO to show people what we like and what things that we get into. I like a lot of things.

Collaborative Task/ Display

In Reading Joel, Nidhi, Fui and I have been working on a collaborative task to revise back on the 4 stories that we have been reading throughout the weeks. We have created a display for our space wall. Each of us took role of creating a display. Fui took the role at making display about Laika the space dog, I took the role at doing the flags to represent the countries that took part in the space race, Nidhi took the role at creating a display about Neil Armstrong, and Joel worked on creating a display about Yuri Gagarin.

Silver Conference award- Teaching a game.

I was working with some of the new entrants people in room 6. We were teaching them a new game called Somakalo. I was working with Holy to help them learn the game. I was showing the Juniors in room 6 a game that I was always interested in. I was showing them how to play a new game that they do not know how to.

Stardom

We went to the stardom at night to see what it would look like at night. We were learning about how much moons jupiter has and learning about what saturn rings were made of ice and dust. Then we were learning about the stars constellations. We were learning about how all stars have within the boundaries of one of the 88 constellation regions.  We learnt that the sun comes up on the east side and set in the west side. We were learning about a lot of stars that made up to be photos. There was some questions about some things in the room that we were in. We were going to look throw the telescopes but there was not that much stars out because it was not a nice sky.  Tobias was there to tell us some other things that about space.  We had seen some of the things in stardom that we were learning about at school. We were learning about Laika the dog that went into space. There was the thing that Laika the dog went into before she went into space it was made out of lego.

Tech/ Wood works

This week at tech we are still working on our wood works. I am all most finished my piano. I am making a piano as my wood works. I am making it for my mum so that she can put her crystals in the piano box. At the top of the piano there is a lid the lid can come of so that you can hide things in it. I was writing the steps it took me to make a piano out of wood. I have wrote 10 steps down so far. I learnt that you do not just have to have it simple. So Mr Grundy said next week if you would  like to Make it look nice then you can design some things to put on it.

Care Award Silver Confidence Award- On the move

For reading instead of me doing the task with my group my teacher Mrs Anderson and I collaborated together. Mrs Anderson said that it could be one of my care awards. I am working on a silver confidence activity. I am trying to get all of my badges, so if I become a student leader then I could have all of my care awards.

I made a DLO to help show kids to make sure that they tell someone if something happens on the internet, and if someone wants to know where your home is. Make sure you tell someone that is staying with you.

Kiwi can

This week for Kiwi Can we were learning about integrity and responsibility. We had a energiser  was bodyguard . We played that game two times. I liked learning about interty because we need to know what we have to learn. Then we played another game the game was called Resonseblitiy.

Emperor penguins spend their entire lives on Antarctica, and in ice and in its waters. They survive,breeding, raising young penguins, and eating by relying on the other parent . Did you know that a penguins doesn't cry. For some penguins they have a different color to other penguins. A mother and father penguins take turns looking after their young penguins Emperor penguins are the largest species of penguin.They are all 4 feet tall.These large bird cannot fly because they have flippers instead of wings. They have pink feet and they are easily recognised by their black cap, blue-grey neck, orange ear-patches and bills and yellow breasts.

Emperor penguins have a main dish that they like to eat and it is fish but they still eat different little sea animals like Squid, Krill and Shrimp. This means that they do not have a large variety of food that they can eat. They like eating different types of creatures because it help bring the fat out in them. The reason why they have fat is to keep them warm because it is so cold where they live that they body alone can handled it. There is a thick layer of blubber under the Emperor's skin to protect their stomach.

They live in antarctica. Emperor penguins never leave antarctica because that is there home because while some birds do return, others travel great distances and find themselves a place where they can sit on the ice and moult. Some Emperor birds crowd in a space to protect their eggs.

All other species of penguins lay two eggs. The two parents will take turns holding the eggs between their legs for warmth in a nest. Did you know that there are about 17 different species of penguins.

A fact about penguins are that blue penguins can survive up to 6 years and a emperor penguin can survive up to 20 year, All penguins can have two young Chicks. Some penguins can be found in Africa,Australia Galagon Island and south america but all penguins can be found in the southern hemisphere.

This week for writing we were learning about how to write a information report. For the information report we were learning about penguins. Tips stands for Title, Introduction, Paragraphs  and Summary. We included a complex sentence, compound sentence , simple sentence, and technical words. Angela checked my work to see if it made sense.

Maori

This week we were learning about Rangi Matamua. We had to watch this video because it is telling us a story. This video is telling us about the stars in the sky. He tells us about the nine stars in the sky. We just have to watch seven minutes. We were learning new worlds that was in the video. Then we were reading a book that was about  how the sun moon and stars were made. When Ranginui, the sky father, and Papatūānuku, the earth mother, were separated by their children, the god of wind, Tāwhirimātea, became angry, tearing out his eyes and hurling them into the heavens. The Māori New Year is marked by the rise of this star cluster and the sighting of the next new moon. We have to make a DLO that is about the story. We have to make a DLO that has photos of the things in the book.

The is the person who Producer the song. Jerry Wexler was a man who who producer the song respect.

Gymnastics /Kiwi Sport

This week for Kiwi Sport we were doing different types of rotations. We had three groups then Steve would put use in the rotation that we were in last week. We were learning different things to what we did last week. I liked doing this weeks Gymnastics class because we got to do more harder things this week.

Laika: A Summary

Today we used our skimming and scanning skills to find the information and detail we needed to write a summary. Skimming like a low flying plane. You look over the information once, (this should take about about 3 - 5 seconds). Scanning is like a helicopter, you find what it is looking for and then hover over until the information has been found. To practise these skills we created a DLO that summarises Laika's journey in Sputnik 2.

Kiwi Can/ Integrity

 This term for our topic we are learning about integrity. Integrity  means somebody who is honest and is true fully to people or to there self . A example of showing integrity is someone who has owns up for there own mistakes. I found out a lot of new things about integrity . not just been honest but owning up for something that you have done instead of letting the other person take the blame.

This role play image  show integrity by being honest. The photo shows the kids that are sitting  in line they doing a test and one student was cheating because she was looking at someone else's test sheet. After somebody told the teacher she was cheating, she owned up to her mistake, showing the quality of integrity.  The second image show some girls going to get some new things and the shop keepers gave them back the same change that  the girls gave them. One of the girls said "nah let just keep it and go and get more things". The other four people showed integrity and said "no give it here lets be honest and take it back".  I learnt the meaning of integrity and different ways we can show this quality.

Tech wood works

In the first block we went to Tamika collage to do wood works technology  with Mr Grundy. We have 3 week to finish our wood works. I was helping one of the new people in our class her name is Sale she is a year 7.  I was making a piano for my wood works but i had to change it because i did a miss stack on the wood.
